Monsoon Season

It has been raining for 4 straight days.  Heavy torrential downpour rain.  In just one month this crazy city has already received 54% of its annual rain.  It’s kinda nice.  Cleans the air, super green everywhere, in this fast city people slow down, a lot of “snow days” from work except you can open the windows and feel the nice breeze.  Strangely it’s one of the best times to sit outside and have a drink with people since the weather is super mild.  You just need something covering you.  Below are pics and videos of what I have seen.

Near the house.  People getting to work.

On Saturday left the house for a couple hours.  Ran some errands in the rain and came back with Fancy Indian Beer. That is my poncho I use often.  Mom, don’t worry.  I look grey in this pic but I’m actually quite healthy.

Here is a video of me walking 4 blocks to a friends house to watch the Mexico/Brazil match.  Sorry Mexico, was rooting for you.

On a rainy Sunday, life doesn’t stop.  We spent the whole day outside eating delicious Bengali food, meeting up with people to have some drinks outside.

During Monsoon season, you spend some quality time indoors watching movies, reading and eating.  Here are some of Smritika’s favorite flavors: Salt, Chili Powder and Lime.  She can consume it straight from her hand. As Indian flavor combo as it gets.  Remind you of other regions of the world?

Some things change some remain the same: Human Bingo

For my  educator type friends/family.  Below is a video of teacher training being done in a classroom in a community in Bombay.  As you might expect we always start the training with a team builder.  In the video teachers are playing “human bingo.”  I have seen this game work all over the United States, Chile, Argentina, and now India.  What can we deduce from that?  People like to move around, learn fun facts about one another, timed activities with a purpose work and healthy competition done right is a lot of fun.
