Mumbai – June 8th 2019
Hot & Humid. Just days away from Monsoon Season! The Mumbai air has been hazy, sticky and thick but pales in comparison to other parts of India who have been experiencing record-breaking heatwaves. In Hyderabad it was 110 degrees for two weeks straight. In Delhi temperatures have reached almost 120 degrees. 2019 could be the hottest year in India’s history

Getting Married
Smritika and I are getting married. I proposed in April in the bathroom of a South Bombay hotel. After accepting my offer we went out for dinner. I had made reservations at what I thought was a restaurant on the sea. It turned out it was an actual boat in the sea. It was a surprise for both of us. Fun & Memorable night!

One thing I deeply appreciate about Smritika is her attention to detail. After leaving a couples games night, Smritika pointed out the neat and orderly way the Auto Taxis were parked. Amidst the heat and chaos of Bombay the little things stand out.
A year ago I might be documenting the cows & goats, cars nipping at your heels, the high decibel sounds, enormous manholes, the ironic signs and other indicators of perceived chaos. Now, cars parked in a straight line is the thing that sticks out. Hmmm

Cricket is kinda cool

Took me over a year but finally have a basic enough understanding of the sport to enjoy watching a match and even play a little. It took watching the Indian Cricket League final championship with people from my office. It was during our work retreat. People lost their shit and probably almost got kicked out of the hotel. The Mumbai Indians (name of the team) won the national championship in the final pitch. Was pretty exciting. I am still learning the rules but lots of similarities to baseball. A homerun is called a 6. A double is called a 4. There are innings. A pitcher is called a bowler. Had so much fun watching the match even played it a couple times.
I work with many kind, intelligent, scrappy, fun & dedicated people. People work long hours but also like to dance & play games.
